Souna Al Ra’ey

Souna Al Ra'ey is a Palestinian activist with the PFLP who spent 12 years in as a political prisoner in Israel; she was released on 27 October 2008. Al Ra'ey was kidnapped by the army after she shot and wounded an Israeli soldier at the Allenby Bridge in 1997. She carried out the attack to avenge the death of her brother, Ibrahim, who was killed by Israeli soldiers at a detention facility. Ibrahim was killed in 1988. She joined the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) when she was 16 years old.
