Prof. Karl Frankenstein, born in Germany, migrated to Palestine in 1935. He was the leading figure at the School of Education established by the Israeli Ministry of Education at the Hebrew University in 1954.

He served in the British mandate service as a juvenile probation office.

The late Carl Frankenstein was Professor of Special Education in the School of Education at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. He published 24 books including 5 volumes of poems and over 150 papers on special education and child psychopathology. He was the recipient of the Israel Prize in Education.
