Ze'ev Binyamin (Benny) Begin, oldest son of Menachem Begin, served in the Knesset from 1988 to 1999 and was science minister in the Netanyahu government but resigned following the signing of the Hebron Accords in 1997. He ran an unsuccessful campaign for prime minister in 1999.
A geologist by profession, Benny Begin now (2000) works at the Geological Institute in Jerusalem and has four daughters and two sons. One son, IDF pilot Maj. Yonatan Begin, was killed when his F-16 fighter jet went down off the coast of Atlit.
(Menachem Begin also had two daughters. Hassia is married to Mati Milo, the brother of Center Party MK Ronni Milo. They live in Tel Aviv and have three children. Lea is single and lives in Jerusalem.)
Uri Misgav reports (2 June 2017):
Dan Meridor, Michael Eitan and Moshe Ya’alon lost their place in Israeli politics. Benny Begin was booted from the Likud slate and returned to it by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in order to lend the party a little of Ze’ev Jabotinsky’s spirit. Ever since, Begin has hovered above the Knesset like a one-man satellite. Others, such as Tzipi Livni and Moshe Kahlon, fled for their lives and founded new parties.Events involving Ze’ev Binyamin Begin:
