Flight-Lt. Michael Oser Weizmann (1916-1942), born in London, was the second son of Chaim Weizmann. His middle name (which is also written as Ozer and Ezer) seems to have referred to his paternal grandfather.
Weizmann was an RAF pilot, number 74356. At one time, he was based at Limavady in Northern Ireland, and then at Carew Cheriton in Pembrokeshire, flying Whitley aircraft. Later, he was based at Saint Eval in Cornwall.
He died, at age 25, with 5 others on 11 February 1942 while flying in RAF 502 Squadron. After engine failure, the aircraft, Whitley Z6831, ditched in the Bay of Biscay. His body was never found. He is commemorated at the Air Memorial in Runneymede - see the entry. The other members of the crew were Sgt Joseph Humphries, 751540; P/O Kenneth T. Reeves, 67685; Sgt Douglas W. Smith, 650141; P/O Peter P. Smith, 106517, and Sgt Alexander Wheeler, 648714.
