Avirama Golan writes for Ha'aretz. Golan's professional experience ranges from translating and editing for a major publishing house to scriptwriting and consulting for Israeli Educational Television.

At Tel Aviv University, she studied poetry and literature; in Paris, she studied French Literature and language.

Ms. Golan has worked for Ha'aretz since 1990. She writes mainly on welfare and society issues, the Jewish Orthodox Sector, issues of church and state in Israel, and feminist issues. In 1996 she became a member of the editorial board of "Ha'aretz" and since 1999 has her own weekly TV show — "Bikria Rishona" ("First Reading), where she interviews writers and readers of new books.
