On January 18, Israel, which had been playing a game of cat and mouse for years with supplies to Gaza, imposed a total blockade -- on everything, including food, fuel, medicine.
Due to these Israeli restrictions, by January 20, the Gaza Strip power plant ran out of fuel, plunging the Gaza Strip, including hospitals, into darkness and bitter cold.
On January 23, some Palestinians blew up the wall along the Egyptian border and tens of thousands poured into Egypt to buy food and medicines.
