Mustafa Hafez, head of Egyptian intelligence in the Gaza Strip, murdered by Israeli bomb

On !1 July 1956 (some sources say 13 July), the IDF intelligence chief Major General Yehoshafat Harkabi implemented a plan to assassinate Hafez. He was killed by means of an explosive device hidden in a book, which was given to him by an Egyptian double agent. The agent, Muhammad al-Talalka, who did not know what he was carrying, was blinded in the blast.
