Event #335 Large numbers of Israeli tanks join invasion of northern Gaza Strip
Date: Friday, 1 Oct 2004
Large numbers of Israeli tanks and troops joined the force involved in the reoccupation of the Gaza strip; the news forces meant that "Operation Days of Penitance" became the largest invasion of northern Gaza since the start of the Palestinian uprising four years ago. The invasion actually started on the night of 29/30 September 2004, leading to the death on 30 September of at least 23 Palestinians but its true scale did not become evident until 1 October, when many more tanks joined the operation.
