Speaking to Ha'aretz on 6 October 2004, Dov Weisglass, Sharon's key advisor, explains that Sharon's "disengagement plan" (which Sharon had announced on 2 February 2004) is meant to forestall the formation of a Palestinian state and to freeze negotiations.
