The Israeli air force bombed the PLO headquarters in Tunis on 1 October 1985, killing 60 people. Israel declares that the attack is in retaliation for an attack on an Israeli yacht in Larnaca, Cyprus, on 25 September, in which three Israelis were killed.
The UN Security Council adopts a resolution with the US abstaining, denouncing the attack as a violation of international law and an infringement on Tunisian sovereignty.
